Oculus Rift Camera Plugin

Question

Hi Everyone. Has anyone been able to get the Oculus Rift Camera plugin to work?

Which step of the instructions is causing a challenge? I don’t have a production rift, I have a dk2. So not sure what the differences are. Rift is a pretty complicated system to program for because they keep changing everything

Thanks you for replying DJ. I have extended the desktop. I have the camera running and EZB connected. Once I press attach in the plugin the program ARC crashes.

Note: Until the Oculus SDK and product is consumer stable, this plugin is compiled against Oculus Configuration Utility 1.7 (SDK 0.6.0.1). Download the Oculus 0.6.0.1 runtime here: https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/pc/0.6.0.1-beta/Oculus_Runtime_for_Windows/

The above link just goes to a page not found error.

I did find this page, which has many SDK versions. Which version of the SDK did you end up trying? https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-platform-sdk/1.20.0/

I haven't tried any. I really don't know how to get started with a SDK.

You just install the sdk like any program. That’s what is needed for the plugin to work - Because the sdk contains the drivers. There are different drivers for different applications.

Well I downloaded the sdk 1.20. It is not obvious how to install it.

Is that the version the plugin asks for? If you extract the zip file that you downloaded, there should be a setup program to run. Ensure to get a compatible version. The plugin specifies a version. Get the same version if you can.

There is only version 1.2 And I do not not see a setup file anywhere. there are no executable files. yes, I extracted all the files ,looked in every folder and directory.

Ah, I put my glasses on and saw the itybity tiny arrow beside the 1.20.0. You must think me an daisy. Thanks for your patience, I'll be trying the different versions if I can find an install file.

No problem - i don't think you're daisy. Oculus hasn't made developing for it very easy. I hadn't asked this question yet - but, does your computer support the necessary hardware for virtual reality? Meaning, have you used the oculus with any games or programs? Some people have VR but their computer video card isn't VR supported.

Try this download: https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-runtime-for-windows/ I tried the 0.8.0.0 runtime and was able to load the plugin - but haven’t tried with the oculus yet. I only have a dk2 version, but I think it’ll work the same. Download the file from the link above and run the exe
